Legal
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Plaid Penguin Studio ("we", "us") collects when you play Lost at the Boardwalk (the "Game") or visit plaidpenguinstudio.com (the "Website"), and what we do with it. We try to collect only what a mobile game needs to run, to be tuned, and to be paid for through optional ads and purchases.
1. Who we are
The Game and the Website are operated by Plaid Penguin Ltd, a company registered in Cyprus with its address at Panganini 9, Zakaki, 3047 Limassol, Cyprus. Plaid Penguin Ltd is the controller of your personal information. For privacy questions, write to privacy@plaidpenguinstudio.com.
2. What we collect
The Game does not ask you to create an account, and we do not ask for your name, email address or phone number inside the Game. We collect the following automatically.
Device and app information
Device model, operating system and version, language, time zone, app version, screen size, and crash and performance diagnostics.
Identifiers
A randomly generated app-instance or installation identifier, and, where your device settings allow it, your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, advertising ID on Android). We do not use these to identify you by name.
Gameplay and usage
Levels started, completed and failed, stars earned, time remaining, power-ups used, coins earned and spent, items found, settings you choose, session length, and which screens you visit. We record whether you viewed or completed an ad and whether you made a purchase.
Approximate location
Your approximate location (country and region), derived from your IP address. We do not collect precise GPS location.
Purchases
Purchases are processed by Apple or Google. We receive confirmation that a purchase happened, the product you bought and a transaction identifier. We never receive your payment card number.
Messages you send us
If you email us, we keep the message and your address so we can reply and keep a record.
3. How we use it
- To run the Game, restore purchases and keep it stable, including fixing crashes.
- To understand how people play, for example where levels are too hard, so we can improve them.
- To adjust game settings such as difficulty, tide timing, rewards and ad frequency through remote configuration.
- To show ads and measure how well they work, and to measure revenue from them.
- To prevent fraud, cheating and abuse, and to protect the Game and its players.
- To answer your messages and to meet legal obligations.
Where the law requires a legal basis (for example in the EEA and the UK), we rely on performance of our contract with you to provide the Game, our legitimate interests in improving and securing it, your consent where we ask for it (for example for personalised advertising and use of advertising identifiers), and legal obligation.
4. Services we use
We work with service providers who process information for us. They may use it only to provide their service to us, subject to their own terms and policies.
- Google Firebase (Analytics and Remote Config) helps us measure usage and deliver configuration changes. See Firebase privacy information and Google's Privacy Policy.
- AppLovin MAX and the advertising networks connected to it serve and measure ads in the Game. See AppLovin's Privacy Policy.
- Unity provides the game engine and in-app purchase tools we use. See Unity's Privacy Policy.
- Apple and Google operate the App Store and Google Play, which process your purchases and downloads under their own policies.
5. Ads and your choices
The Game is free to play and shows ads. Rewarded ads are optional: you choose to watch one in exchange for a reward such as a continue or bonus coins. Depending on your settings, the Game may also show banner or interstitial ads, which you can remove with the Remove Ads purchase. Ad partners may collect your advertising identifier, IP address and information about your device and ad interactions to show you ads and to measure and prevent fraud.
- iOS: you can allow or refuse tracking in Settings under Privacy & Security, then Tracking. If you refuse, ads are still shown but are not personalised using your IDFA.
- Android: you can reset or delete your advertising ID, and opt out of ads personalisation, in Settings under Privacy, then Ads.
- EEA, UK and Switzerland: where required, we ask for your consent before using advertising identifiers or personalised ads. You can change your choice at any time through the privacy options in the Game, if shown, or by contacting us.
6. Sharing
We share information with the service providers above, with authorities when the law requires it or to protect rights and safety, and with a buyer or successor if our business is sold or reorganised. We do not sell your information for money. Some laws, such as California's, treat sharing identifiers with advertising partners as a "sale" or "sharing" for advertising. If that applies to you, you can opt out using the device controls above or by emailing us.
7. Children
The Game is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email privacy@plaidpenguinstudio.com and we will delete it. Where the age of digital consent in your country is higher than 13, you must meet it, or have a parent or guardian's permission, to use the Game.
8. Retention and security
We keep analytics and gameplay data for a limited period, generally up to 14 months, and then delete or anonymise it. Emails to us are kept as long as needed to deal with your request and our records. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, but no system is completely secure. Deleting the Game removes the data stored on your device.
Your data may be processed in Cyprus, the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses for transfers out of the EEA, UK or Switzerland.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us to access, correct, delete or export information about you, to object to or restrict certain uses, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of your information. You will not be treated differently for using these rights. If you are in the EEA or UK you may also complain to your data protection authority. Our lead authority is the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection in Cyprus (dataprotection.gov.cy).
To make a request, email privacy@plaidpenguinstudio.com. Because the Game has no accounts, we may ask for your advertising identifier or app-instance identifier so we can find your data, and we will only use it for that purpose. We aim to respond within 30 days.
10. This website
The Website does not use advertising cookies or analytics cookies, and we do not track visitors across other sites. Our hosting provider, [Hosting provider], receives standard server logs such as your IP address and the pages you request, for security and reliability. The contact form on the Website opens your own email app. We only receive what you choose to send.
11. Changes
We may update this policy as the Game or the law changes. We will post the new version here with a new date, and where a change is significant we will tell you in the Game or on the Website.
